However; this form of assignment is open to inadvertent compromise on both
client and recruiter - hence why our preference is for a fully engaged client to
commit to meeting us half way on assignments.

Often with these assignments, the client has tried and is also still trying
to fill the role themselves and have often given the brief to other recruiters
also; and we all compete against each other to fill the role first.
As there is usually "no obligation" for the client regarding any up-front
costs, or obligations during the assignment, there's usually "no obligation" on
the recruiters behalf to perform, or communicate either - hence huge potential
for compromise and especially so when skill shortages / employment markets are
tight.
Factor this with an on-going shortage of exceptional talent, employers
needing to "reduce costs" and this can often translate to a client giving a
brief to all and sundry - and receiving very little or no deliverables, service
or even feedback in some cases - completely compromising the employers
employment brand, the integrity of their proposition or even an urgent project -
possibly even leading to inadvertently damaging a client's market reputation for
deliverables.

Therefore; it is vitally important employers have a reputable, proven and
experienced professional representing their value proposition and employment
brand in the market place... and especially as long-term effects of the GFC
continue to recede.
There is no cost to prospective client's until they agree we have found them
the "perfect" person they're looking for and there's no obligations either.
